Monaco are now reportedly more than willing to sell Arsenal target Thomas Lemar than they were earlier this summer.
Lemar who has been on Arsenal’s radar since the beginning of the current transfer window even before the arrival of Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette.
Last week Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim admitted Lemar could finally leave the club despite previously saying that he was not for sale sometime in the summer. The signing of Winger Rachid Ghezzal on a free transfer from Lyon added to the suggestions of Lemar being on his way out of the club, which will leave Arsenal a boost in their pursuit of France International.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth says Arsenal have gone quiet on a potential move for the 21-year-old but also thinks the deal is not yet dead. In the transfer window, we’ve seen the Ligue 1 champions reject several bids from Arsenal for the French Midfielder
Sheth told Sky Sports News:”What of Arsenal’s hopes of signing Thomas Lemar, We are told today they are now not in active talks with Monaco over the player. But it should be noted they have not entirely ended their interest.”
“Monaco’s stance has changed from their vice president saying he was not for sale two weeks ago, to their coach not guaranteeing he would be at the club come the end of the window.
“Barcelona are also thought to be keen. Intriguingly Monaco have just signed Algerian winger Rachid Ghezzal on a five-year contract. Ghezzal was a free agent following his release from Lyon.
“Perhaps we haven’t heard the last of Thomas Lemar to Arsenal in this transfer window.”
Lemar has scored 14 ligue 1 goals for Monaco since joining from Caen in 2015.
