Celtic have been linked with a move for Abel Hernandez for a while now, reportedly keeping tabs on the attacker’s contract situation.
After protracted negotiations with Hull City, the Uruguayan has decided to call it quits after failing to agree to a new deal.
The free agent released this statement after saying his goodbyes at the club.
“I will never forget the matches in which you signed my name, this is something that I will have forever in my heart.
“This is why you deserve to know, directly from me, that my time in Hull is now over, everything comes to an end and today I have to say goodbye.
“Sometimes a fair agreement is not reached, and football is like that. I wish you all the best for the next year.”
The 27-year-old is transfer interest for several clubs, especially now that there’s no large fee required to sign him and with that in mind Celtic along with a number of English clubs are now considering a move for the player.
