Chelsea have long lost been linked with a Napoli Centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, now the Serie A side has reportedly set a whooping price tag of £53 million on the defender, according to reports from Calcio Mercato.
The Italian outlet report claims that Napoli will sell the defender only if Chelsea are willing to meet the price demands and that Koulibaly has been a long-term target for the Blues in the past two years, in spite of the massive offer, the Serie A club are yet to accept any offer from the Premier League Champions.
The Senegalese Defender, who is currently rated as one of the best defenders in Europe, has starred in 11 matches for the Italian club playing all in full, while helping them to their eight-straight league wins this season.
The Partenopei are taking the lead in the Serie A table with two points clear, and five points clear from the reigning champions Juventus who sit at the 4th position. The Italian club would need Koulibaly for the rest of the season if they are to achieve the vision of winning the league title, in which they haven’t won since 1989.
The Blues boss Antonio Conte would love to upgrade his back three and will welcome the addition of Koulibaly, after losing three matches in the league so far, but Napoli will be unwilling to sell the Senegalese till next summer.
