Call them failures or bad bit of business, Chelsea duo Christian Atsu and Papy Djilobodji are set to join Espanyol on loan for rest of the season.

According to reports from Spanish Newspaper Sport, Espanyol have agreed terms with the players with only official announcement pending for them to make a move to La Liga.

Atsu was in demand as clubs like Levante, Hamburg and several Championship side were eager for his signature. The Ghanaian International star has spent his recent time on loan at Vitesse, Everton and Bournemouth.

In the end, Espanyol have convinced the 24-year old to join La Liga after failing to have any impact for Chelsea since joining them back in 2013.

Same is the case with Djilobodji, who arrived from Ligue 1 last summer on the deadline day and has been a surplus to requirement since the Day1.

Guus Hiddink wants to offer the young central defender some playing time and is willing to let him join Espanyol on loan until the end of this season.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are linked with a move for Alexandre Pato and few reports have suggested that the striker may join Stamford Bridge before the Arsenal game. Truth or not, we will have to wait until the weekend to find out.
