Guus Hiddink was at his candid best when he appeared in front of the media to deliver his pre-match comments ahead of the of the Everton clash.
One of the shocking statements of the evening came from Hiddink, when the Dutchman claimed that Chelsea will get relegated, if they do not start putting points on the board.
Blues have not been able to go beyond the 14th place since Hidiink has taken charge of the club and that is the biggest reason for Hiddink’s concern.
Speaking on the possibility Chelsea’s relegation battle, Hiddink said: ‘If you don’t gather points you don’t know what the others can do. The Premier League can surprise you.
‘There is a 12-point difference from fourth place which is a gap. We all like to look forward towards the top of the table, but we also have to be realistic and see we are six points away from the relegation line. That’s also a fact.’
Discussing their next opponents Everton, Hiddink said: ‘They like to play and build up the game from their back four. They do that in a clever way. You know their midfield is experienced, they have the danger of their wide players coming inside.
‘They also have strikers who are very penetrative in the danger area. They are a team who can play football and who are very dangerous. It will be a very difficult but I think a very attractive match.’
Hiddink was mindful of the late goal his team conceded against West Brom, which could come back to haunt them this weekend as well.
Everton will not give away easy points to Chelsea and will look to ruin Hiddink’s plans of getting Chelsea back to the higher end of Premier League table.
