Official – Chelsea release three first team stars including Radamel Falcao

Chelsea’s summer of squad overhaul began earlier today when they axed three of their first team stars Radamel Falcao, Alexandre Pato and Marco Amelia after just one season at Stamford Bridge.

While Falcao arrived in August 2015, both Pato and Amelia were emergency signings during the 2015/16 campaign. Neither of the three stars could make any impact for Chelsea last season and could not even manage 10 starts between them for the Blues.

While Falcao scored on his debut for the club against Swansea, injuries and poor performances stopped him from making any real progress at the club.

As for Pato, it took him 3 months to sort out his fitness before he could get any game time under Guus Hiddink. The Brazilian however did score from the penalty spot against Aston Villa, but that was his last goal and appearance in a Chelsea shirt.

Meanwhile Amelia might be regretting his decision to join Chelsea last October after he could not even manage a single minute of game time last season.

It is really not a surprise that as soon as their loan spell was over, Chelsea have shown them the door with Antonio Conte’s imminent arrival at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian manager is currently busy with the Euro 2016 duties and has progressed to the quarter finals where his team will take on the World Champions Germany later this week.
