Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has decided to recall Patrick Bamford and Christian Atsu from their loan spells to add new dimensions to his attack.
Bamford (Crystal Palace) and Atsu (Bournemouth) were rather frustrated at the lack of playing time this season. Bamford had even come out and labeled his stay at Selhurst Park as disaster.
As for Atsu, he first found hard to get in to Bournemouth’s starting XI, then he faded away due to a stress fracture. Having seen Atsu drift away, Hiddink has decided to recall these young stars to Stamford Bridge.
Rumours have intensified of Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao to leave during January transfer window. If it happens, Hiddink wants to have able back-ups to deal with a thin squad.
Although unproven at top level, Bamford was one of the hottest strikers in the Championship last season. If stats are anything to go by, he should do a better job that Falcao and Remy combined.
