Antonio Conte is keen on bolstering the right-side of his team before the transfer window closes and has been linked with a move for Hoffeinheim defender Jeremy Toljan.
Toljan impressed both in the Bundesliga last season as Hoffeniheim finished fourth in the league, and in the European U21 Championship won by Germany this year, and his performances have not gone unnoticed as Premier League top-notch clubs circle in.
Rejuvenated Victor Moses flourished at the right-wing for the Blues last season as they won the Premier League with a record 30 wins but Conte wants more competitions at that side, with only Moses the available option.
The Blues boss had targeted Brazilian right-back Danilo and his transfer to Stamford Bridge was said to be near completion but he opted to move to Manchester City from Real Madrid.
Chelsea have now turned to Toljan, though they face competitions from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is also reported to be interested in the Germany international, as he wants a replacement for Kyle Walker who moved to Man City in a £50 million deal.
While Jurgen Klopp also wants his services at Anfield despite having Nathaniel Clyne and Trent Alexander-Arnold at his disposal.
Toljan, 22 is into the final year of his contract and has been valued at £3 million.
He made 20 league appearances and found the back of the net once.
