Chelsea’s hunt for a world class manager has led them to Atletico Madrid chief Diego Simeone, and The Blues are making sure they get their man next season. According to latest reports, Chelsea have contacted Simoene’s agent to take over at Stamford Bridge.
The news has been reported by Mirror, who claim that Chelsea have made contacts with Diego’s sister Natalia, who also acts as his agent. Natalia confirmed that Chelsea’s approach to her was a way of telling how high Chelsea value the current Atletico Madrid manager.
There have been reports of Chelsea looking to bring Antoinio Conte and Jorge Sampaoli as Guus Hiddink’s replacement next season. However, those two are not the first choice, and Chelsea will only move for them if they fail to bring Simeone at the first place.
Simeone is learning English for Chelsea job
One piece of good news that Natalia did give to all Chelsea fans is that, Simeone is learning English and is somewhat open to the idea of managing Chelsea next season.
Simeone knows Chelsea want him at all cost after parting ways with Jose Mourinho earlier in the season. Jose Mourinho’s long-term deal was the only reason why Simeone signed his 4-year extension with Atleti.
Simeone is contracted with Atletico until 2020, and has a release clause of £3.1million. According to reports, Chelsea can prize Siemone away from Vicente Calderon if the 53-year old agrees to join Stamford Bridge next season.
