Chelsea target Romelu Lukau is set to sign a new contract with Everton which will make him the highest paid football in club’s history.

The news was confirmed by Sky Sports (via Lukaku’s agent Mino Raiola) who claimed that the contract extension if 99.9% done as the Belgian ace is ready to commit his future with the Merseyside club.

In his recent interview, Raiola said: “With Everton, we have 99.9 per cent reached terms. I don’t see any big problems. It is a question of putting the details on the paper.”

Lukaku has enjoyed a superb start to the season scoring 9 league goals which has seen Everton jump to 9th in the league table, just 3 points behind Manchester United who are 6th in the league table.

Chelsea want Lukaku as Costa’s replacement

Chelsea are still uncertain over Diego Costa’s future and were eying Lukaku as a potential replacement earlier in the season. However, with Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system in full swing, we could see Lukaku and costa work together if Chelsea can break the bank to sign Lukaku in coming seasons.
