Chelsea have edged out Arsenal in race to sign the in-form Watford striker Odion Ighalo next summer, according to reports.
Ighalo has scored 13 league goals this season and was widely tipped to leave Vicarage Road this month. However, the Nigerian is ready to repay Watford’s faith in him and see out the remainder of 2015/16 season.
According to Express, Arsenal have been linked with Ighalo as well after pulling off a sensational debut Premier League season.
Ighalo to Chelsea?
However, Mirror claim that Chelsea have identified the Nigerian striker as the best alternative to Diego Costa, who looks set to join Atletico Madrid next season.
Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao are also expected to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer as Roman Abramovich has planned a massive overhauling of his Chelsea squad.
According to reports, Antoine Griezmann, Edinson Cavani and Alex Teixeira are the preferred attacking option for Chelsea as Blues are also looking to bring in a new manager next summer.
