Chelsea are expected to make a lot of noise in the transfer window once Antonio Conte officially takes over at the club in coming days.
One area he needs to strengthen is the Chelsea’s striker line-up following Diego Costa’s alleged move away from the club this summer.
According to reports from Daily Mirror, Conte wants to sign Liverpool’s Christian Benteke to bolster his attacking options.
Benteke is expected to quit Anfield this summer after being frozen out by Jurgen Klopp last season. Klopp fancies a dynamic striker in his starting XI which has brought Benteke on the verge of Liverpool exit.
Conte is keen to bring a powerful striker to Chelsea this summer who can hold up the ball and bring others in to play in a technically robust 3-5-2 formation.
With Costa seemingly headed out of the club, Benteke may be the most viable option for Chelsea at the moment. Likes of Romelu Lukaku and Gonzalo Higuain have decided to look for other options leaving The Blues with limited striker options ahead of next season.
