Chelsea have been linked with a surprising transfer move for Swansea striker Fernando Llorente, according to reports from Spanish journal AS.
Antonio Conte is not happy with Michy Batshuayi’s development at the club who joined Chelsea in a £30million deal over the summer.
Conte wants to bring in a more stable back-up for Diego Costa and not rely on Batshuayi. After struggling to settle in the Premier League, Llorente has managed to score 6 goals in his last 10 appearances and has been one of the in-form players in the Premier League.
According to reports, Conte has already held talks with owner Roman Abramovich concerning a move for the Spanish striker with an £8-10million bid likely to get the deal done.
Chances of Chelsea signing Llorente – 3/5
Antonio Conte has proved that he is a smart manager and if he does not fancy Michy Batshuayi then the Belgian will sooner or later will be sent out of the club.
Although Llorente, 31 appears to be a short-gap solution, one believes that he will give Costa enough cover during the course of this season. Chelsea are currently on top of the league table and lead the 2nd placed Liverpool side by 6 points.
