Chelsea are on the verge of agreeing a swap deal for Borussia Doortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan with Ramires moving in the opposite direction.
The news has been covered by The Times, and they are certain of the move to go through next summer. The prime reason for this transfer is the lack of first team action for Gundogan under Thomas Tuchel.
According to The Times, Gundogan eyes Chelsea as the most viable fit for his playing style as he is aware of the obvious lack of competition for places.
This news would not be welcomed at Old Trafford and Anfield after Manchester United and Liverpool were heavily linked with the 25-year old midfielder.
Gundogan to Chelsea
Despite signing Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, Louis Van Gaal has struggled for a creative force from the midfield, as for Jurgen Klopp, he was keen on signing his former player from Dortmund.
However, as things stand, Gundogan is all set to join Chelsea next summer with Ramires moving to Signal Eduna Park. The Brazilian is also frustrated at the first team action this season despite turning up some key performances under Guus Hiddink.
At the moment, Ramires is neither a central midfield nor a wide attacker for Hiddink, and that is why Blues have gone ahead and agreed a deal to swap Ramires with Gundogan next summer.
