Celtic have reportedly failed in their second attempt to make a deal with Hibernian for Scotland international midfielder John McGinn.

The Hoops are believed to have previously submitted an insulting bid of £1.5m, which is half of what their Scottish Premiership are demanding for.

McGinn remains in the focal point of Celtic but, according to Sky Sports News, their midfield target is still dangling out of reach as Hibs are not ready to let him go on the cheap, despite the Glaswegian being in the final year of his current deal.

Hibernian included McGinn in their side for the 2-0 friendly defeat to Blackburn Rovers two days ago, appearing for just over an hour at Easter Road.

The former St Mirren product was used in both of Scotland’s summer international friendlies, giving him a record of nine senior caps.
