Nice and Rennes have initiated contact with Celtic requesting about the availability of Ivorian Eboue Kouassi.

The 20-year-old arrived from Russian club Krasnodar back in 2017 when the Hoops paid £3m to secure his signature.

The midfielder has had limited action time since his arrival and has so far recorded just six Scottish Premier League games for the Scottish Champions.

However, that has not in any way taken suitors’ attention away from Kouassi, who is contracted till 2021.

Clubs in Belgium have been previously linked with the Abidjan-born ace but now, according to reports in France, he is also a subject of interest for some Ligue 1 clubs.

According to Foot Mercato, both Nice and Rennes have already made enquiries regarding his availability from Celtic and could be preparing to make an offer for the player.

Nice finished eighth in Ligue 1 last season, while Rennes finished fifth.

Major honours could be ruled out for the Ivorian at either club, whereas at Celtic he has been part of two league title-winning campaign in the past two seasons.

The defensive midfielder may be tempted to trade in trophies for first-team football, however, as he has struggled to make a permanent impact in Scotland.
