After their humiliating start to this season’s Champions league group stage with a 5-0 home defeat against Paris Saint Germain, Celtic bounced back in their next European game against Anderlecht.

The Celts travelled to Belgium and got maximum three points and three goals without conceding. Brendan Rodgers and his boys were in impeccable form in the night of the game and show no sign of lackluster attitude from their previous match against PSG.

The win against Anderlecht came with many good feelings for the fans as they see their team win their first group game since October 2013, four years earlier against Ajax 2-1 in Netherlands. The win at Brussels last night was one that the travelling fans and will not want to forget easily.

Celtic capitalize on the fact that Anderlecht were out of form and they could take the game to them. It took 38 minutes before the deadlock was broken through a Leigh Griffiths goal. It was simple finish and he comfortably slotted the ball inside the net. Celtic head into the half time break with the 1-0 lead.

They started the second half where they stopped and before the host, Anderlecht could get back into the game, Patrick Roberts chance was converted by Kara Mbodj into his own net in the 50th minute to double the lead.

That was the point in which Celtic ended any form of resurgence by Anderlecht. However, it was not over for Celtic as they added a third in the dying minutes of the game to make it 3-0. It was a well fought win and a well deserved one at that.

The victory put Celtic level on points with Bayern Munich on 3 points but sit third on the table while PSG top the group and Anderlecht sit bottom of the group.

Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for his team after the match and will hope they can show this kind of attitude in their next game against Bayern Munich. Their next domestic match is against Hibernian on Saturday.
