Chelsea could soon complete a move for one of their long-term targets Antonio Candreva, according to reports from The Sun. The player is valued in the region of £25m by his club Lazio.
The report claims that Candreva is most keen to join Premier League this summer with Chelsea being the only English team in the running.
The Sun are convinced of a direct quote from Candreva’s agent Federico Pastorello where he said: “He joined Lazio and even got insults from some fans. He won them all over but now Antonio has realised it’s time for a new challenge”.
“Fans shouldn’t be upset or angry, it’s part of the logic that brings clubs and players together, and then clubs take decision to go their separate ways.
“That doesn’t mean we should leave on bad terms. This experience has brought him great relationships over the years with the president, coaches, teammates and fans.
“If he were to leave, it would be with a smile. [The Premier League is] the top league [in Europe]. Antonio would also consider options abroad.”
Currently Napoli, Inter Milan and Juventus are after the Lazio winger’s signature who is adept at playing at several positions.
One of the reasons why Conte loves Candreva is the player’s ability to play in the 3-5-2 system which is expected to be in effect at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Lazio are certain to grant Candreva’s wish to quit Serie A and join hands with Conte in premier League however they are still awaiting a direct offer from Chelsea.
The Sun are convinced of the player signing for Chelsea this summer, which could materialize over the next few weeks. Elsewhere Chelsea will also learn the fate of their Morata’s pursuit after a showdown talk has been reported between player and the La Liga club.
