Celtic fans have had the matter of their centre-back crisis at the centre of their discussion for a while now, and a whopping 85 per cent are in support of a move for Toulouse centre-back Christopher Jullien.

According to GOAL.com writer Robin Bairner, Jullien could be signed for as little as €10m (around £9m).

Bairner claims Newcastle, Southampton and Everton were all looking to hijack the giant defender from his present club before the Premier League window closes, and that he is likely to depart from the Ligue 1 outfit this summer.

Jullien, standing at 6 ft 5 in, was one of Ligue 1’s most impressive performers over the last couple of years, averaging nearly two tackles, two interceptions and over six clearances per game over the last two campaigns.

He also has a knack of grabbing goals from set pieces, something which new Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has found with Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic.

The Hoops are in dire need of a commanding centre-back to play alongside Kristoffer Ajer and replace the struggling Jack Hendry, and while £9m is on the high side, it would be well worth it for a player of Jullien’s quality.

85 per cent of fans are backing a swoop.
