According to a recent report, Southampton is looking to offload Fraser Forster on a loan deal in the summer transfer window.
The Saints acquired Angus Gunn from Manchester City for an initial fee of £10 million, and it will make the England international fall down the pecking order behind Gunn and Alex McCarthy.
The 30-year-old wants to be in action on a regular basis, and Southampton does not seem ready to help him achieve that and so have sought to shift him away.
It will see them no longer responsible for his wages as Forster is one of the club’s top earners after signing penning a new five-year deal last summer.
With his future in doubts, he will not be short of suitors, albeit temporarily.
Celtic fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to discuss the possibility of bringing him back to Celtic Park.
Forster achieved huge success at Celtic, both in his loan and permanent spell, and had departed the club on good terms in 2014 for a fee in the region of £10 million.
He played over 190 games for the Bhoys and won three Scottish Premiership titles and two domestic cups.
He is still a very good shot stopper and would be a great addition for Celtic. Here are some of the reactions from Celtic fans on Twitter:
