Arsenal’s midfield injury crisis had scared to ruin their season, however, PSG’s Lucas Moura has emerged as a shock January target to bring an end to their misery. According to Italian news source ItaSportPress, Lucas is considering his options ahead of the January transfer window and his preferred Premier League club are Arsenal, if makes a switch to English Football.
Lucas is no longer the first choice at PSG with the arrival of Angel Di Maria. This has made the Brazilian winger very unsure of his place in the team and is eager to make a move in January. Lucas has been a long-term target for the English clubs with Manchester United coming the closest to snapping him.
The 23-year has been vocal in the past about the disappointments of his move to PSG. Add to that, he has made 21 appearances so far with number of playing minutes being on the lower side. It has presented Arsenal with a great opportunity to sign him in January due to the growing injury concerns for the club.
Currently, Gunners have Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez, Francis Coquelin and Theo Walcott out injured and their midfield looks very thin at the moment. Manager Arsene Wenger has been using Joel Campbell as one of his wide players, which may not be enough if Gunners are serious about their Premier League aspirations. However, with a player like Lucas arriving in January, Arsenal will be seen as one of the serious title challengers for the season.
