Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has reportedly agreed a one-year extension to his current contract.
The Times have reported the story where they claim, Ivanovic has agreed the terms of his extension and will sign in coming days.
The decision, however, has not gone well with club’s supporters who wanted the Serbian out of Stamford Bridge given his erratic performance this season.
Fans are also not happy with the fact that Ivanovic has been given the liberty of adding further 12 months to his contract if he plays a certain number of games over the period of next year.
The Times were convinced about Ivanovic’s desire of wanting a contract for 2 years, however, Chelsea’s plans of not giving extended contract to the players over the age of 30.
Chelsea were aware that they could not lose another of experienced players after seeing the likes of Lampard, Drogba and Cole depart from the club.
Along with John Terry, Ivanovic is the only experienced Chelsea player at Stamford Bridge and that is one of the biggest reason for offering him the contract extension with Chelsea football club.
