Manchester United fans are getting anxious as there are no concrete reports of either Victor Lindelof or Nelson Semedo joining the club in January.
The duo were linked with a move to Old Trafford after a reported £76million deal was agreed between United and Benfica.
However, Semedo has shrugged off any such rumour and is focused on playing for Benfica at the moment.
Semedo has been dubbed as the new “Dani Alves” and has been one of the best defenders in Europe this season. United were keen to sign the 22-year-old but has been put off by the player’s recent remarks.
Discussing a potential move to United, Semedo said: “You can rest easy, I’m completely focused on Benfica and I’m hoping to continue here for many years to come.”
Despite Semedo’s refusal, his teammate Victor Lindelof is believed to be edging closer to a transfer to Manchester United after being axed from Benfica’s squad for their cup game on Thursday.
Lindelof is rumoured to be given the number 2 jersey at Manchester United and his transfer is expected to be announced in the first week of January.
