Celtic are now ready to go in hard for target Hibs midfielder John McGinn, grandson of the former Celtic chairman Jack McGinn and a life-long Celtic supporter.

News outlets are going to come out with the story on Tuesday and with McGinn going into the final year of his deal, the Easter Road club now wants to cash in on their prize asset who could sit out anothesweetenergn at Hibs and be at liberty to speak to interested parties in January.

Neil Lennon concurs that it is the right time for McGinn to say his goodbyes at the club and he has been stating privately in recent months that he would be happy to sell McGain to Celtic.

Social media became rife with the news of Celtic interest earlier today but as you can see there’s nothing more than rumour and speculation. One thing is for sure though, McGinn will be sold this summer and if Celtic are interested……

Scott Allan, who knows there’s nothing for him at Celtic Park, wants to make his loan spell at Easter Road a permanent deal so this move will be seen as a sweetener for any McGinn transfer.

The player has alternatives in mind, including a move to recently relegated Sunderland, where Jack Ross just emerged as the manager.

But for McGinn, if Brendan Rodgers does make his move then he’ll be moving to the East end of Glasgow rather than the North-East of England.

McGinn is currently in Scotland getting ready for World Cup 2018 – his country will be playing friendlies against Peru and Mexico – so the transfer action is likely to heat up on his return next week.
