Jose Mourinho to help Chelsea sign their priority target this summer

Do not get carried away with the headline, there is no romance coming back between Jose Mourinho and Chelsea after their ugly split last season. However, Mourinho’s transfer plans at Manchester United may come to the aid of his former club.

According to reports from Times, Chelsea are keen on signing Christian Benteke this summer as they are not convinced with Romelu Lukaku’s interest in returning back to Stamford Bridge. It is not a surprise that Man United are also tracking Lukaku with playing fancying the move as well.

Earlier in the year, Lukaku’s father had claimed that his son would be ideal for Bayern Munich or Manchester United as he loves both those clubs. Now if Mourinho can convince his former apprentice to join him at Old Trafford, Blues can push to sign Benteke, who is tipped to quit Anfield this summer.

No bad feeling between Lukaku and Mourinho

Despite the manner in which Lukaku was sold by Mourinho back in 2014, the player holds no grudge against the Special One. Rather, the Belgian striker confirmed that he chose to move on after a fruitful conversation with Mourinho.

There is no bad blood between the two and if Jose makes his move now, he can convince the player to be Manchester United’s leading striker for coming seasons.

As for Chelsea, they are still not sure about Diego Costa’s future at the club. The Spaniard is linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge with Atletico Madrid keen to bring him back at Vicente Calderon.

Conte needs to sort out the striker mess soon at Chelsea but one thing is certain, if Mourinho ends up snapping Lukaku or some other team does that, then Chelsea will be left with Christian Benteke as perhaps the only option to be their centre-forward next season.
