Hector Bellerin has attracted a lot of attention in recent weeks after Barcelona made him their priority transfer target during the upcoming January transfer window.
Contrary to the popular belief, though, Bellerin has decided to stay put at Arsenal and continue his career in Premier League.
According to reports from The Guardian, Bellerin is expected to sign a contract extension before the end of this season.
The Spaniard himself cleared the air earlier in the season where he claimed that if Barcelona came calling for him, he would not pick up the call.
To further delight the Arsenal fans, Bellerin’s agent addressed the media earlier today and confirmed that his client will indeed sign a new contract sooner than expected.
Bellerin’s agent said: ‘We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation, he will sign, Héctor is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.’
As per these remarks, it does look like Gunners could be in line to tie Bellerin down to a new long-term deal which will boost Arsenal’s chances to fight for the major trophies in seasons to follow.
