Manchester United have been delivered a body blow in their attempts to seal a top 4 finish this season after Bastian Schweinsteiger has been ruled out for rest of the season after suffering a tear in his hamstring.
Schweinsteiger suffered the injury in Germany National team’s training session earlier today. The news was confirmed by ESPN and several Man United linked twitter accounts. The injury is a real setback for the German star after he had recently comeback from his long-troubling knee injury.
The unfortunate thing for Schweinsteiger is that he could also miss the upcoming Euro 2016 in France starting in June later this year.

Manchester United looked a different side with Schweinsteiger on the field in last two matches albeit he came for last 20 minutes only. His presence and calm influence on the field makes him an indispensable part of Louis Van Gaal’s setup.
With 8 games remaining in the season, United will have to depend on Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Carrick to see through their midfield duties. Ander Herrera is also battling with a minor injury, while Marouane Fellaini isn’t the best choice at the moment after his string of poor performances.
