Real Madrid displayed a gritty performance at Camp Nou as they managed a 2-1 comeback win against Barcelona. The win has now cut down the gap between Real and Barca to 7 points.

The Catalans had more of the ball but were never able to create goal-scoring opportunities. Real Madrid’s defensive formation was worth applauding as it kept the much talked about MSN trio at bay.

Game saw its first goal from a corner kick when Gerard Pique headed home for his team on 56th minute. Barcelona were expected to kick on from there but a Karim Benzema strike leveled the game on 63rd minute.

El Clasico is known for the number of red cards it produces with Sergio Ramos being the regular offender. Ramos was once again shown a red after his second bookable offense. However, Cristiano Ronaldo stunned Camp Nou by scoring the winning goal just seconds after Ramos’ exit.

Ronaldo’s goal and Real Madrid’s dogged defending ensured vital 3 points for Zinedine Zidane who was managing his very first ever El Clasico game. The defeat also brought an end to Barcelona’s 39-game winning run as well.
