While Arsenal are still in talks to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City, they have been given a huge boost in their chase for Henrikh Mkhitaryan after it was reported that Borussia Dortmund are willing to sell their star to the Emirates giants.
According to reports from Mirror, Dortmund are aware that Mkhitaryan does not want to sign a new contract and could leave the club for free next summer. And given his stellar 2015/16 season, he has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester United as well.
However, Dortmund prefer to sell Mkhitaryan to Arsenal as they recognize it being player’s personal wish. Mkhitaryan admires the way Arsenal play their football and the 27-year old thinks he can improve even further by playing under Arsene Wenger.
Mkhitaryan managed 23 goals and 32 assists last season and would be a great addition to the Arsenal’s squad. Gunners have already signed Granit Xhaka this summer and are very close to pulling off a deal for Jamie Vardy as well.
If Arsenal can offer a substantial contract to the Armenian international, we could see yet another high quality playmaker arriving at Emirates after Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s transfer in recent seasons.
