Arsenal have opened talks with Alexis Sanchez to tie him down to a new 5-and-a-half year contract worth £51.5million, according to reports.
As per The Football Insider, Alexis is seen as the key summer transfer target for Real Madrid and Manchester City. The fact that, Sanchez is tempted to work under Pep Guardiola has forced Arsenal to offer Alexis the improved contract offer.
According to Football Insider, Arsenal are ready to offer the Chilean star a significant hike to his current salary and are eager to keep him at the Emirates for coming seasons.
Alexis to sign new Arsenal deal?
The 27-year-old joined Arsenal in the summer of 2014 in a £35million deal and has become one of the best Premier League players in recent times. Alexis can make and score goals with a frightening deal of consistency.
His early season form has put Arsenal in a firm position to win the 2015/16 season title. Gunners are currently 3rd in the league and only trail Leicester by 5 points. With Sanchez returning from his injury concerns, he could be the man to end their 12-year wait for a Premier League title.
Gunners take on Leicester next weekend and it could prove to be the title decider as both teams are the top two favorites for this season’s title.
Apart from Alexis, Arsenal are also keen to renew Mesut Ozil’s current contract by offering the German World Cup winner a new 180,000-a-week offer. The new contract is expected to be good enough to convince Ozil to extend his Arsenal stay beyond his current contract.
