Arsenal were shown the harsh reality of their thin squad strength last night, when they were beaten 4-0 by Southampton. In the aftermath of that result, Gunners have been heavily linked with a move fro FC Basel midfielder Mohamed El-Nenny.
Two of the most reliable journalists John Cross (Daily Mirror) and Jeremy Wilson (Daily Telegraph) have confirmed the news of El-Nenny agreeing personal terms with Arsenal. To further verify the story, leading Egyptian newspaper King Fut have gone on to state the exact date for the signing to be officially announced.
As King Fut understands, El-Nenny has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal and will have his medical on coming Tuesday before being officially announced as an Arsenal player on Wednesday.
January transfer window is just days away from opening and this looks to be the first major signing as Arsenal look to save their season from collapsing. Gunners are still uncertain of the return dates for Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin, and because of that, their midfield has taken quite a hit.
They need a midfield signing with Mohamed El-Nenny being the prime candidate at the moment. According to King Fut, transfer fee is in the region of £5-7million with both the clubs already agreeing over the deal. Will he be the right fit for Arsenal? Only time will tell, however, at the moment, they need someone who can anchor their midfield.
