Arsenal have completed the signing of young goalkeeper Alex Crean. The 17-year-old joins the Gunners’ academy as Arsene Wenger looks at long-term replacements for Petr Cech.
Crean started his youth career with Crystal Palace before joining Celtic in July 2015.
He moved to Bromley in April but, despite failing to feature in the National League, has now completed a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Crean is now expected to vie with Joao Virginia as the Gunners’ first-choice goalkeeper at U18 level.
Despite his arrival, the young shot-stopper has plenty of work to do if he is to break into Wenger’s starting line-up.
Cech is Arsenal’s main goalkeeper with Colombia international David Ospina his deputy.
The Gunners are aiming to avoid a repeat of what happened following Jens Lehmann’s departure in 2008.
