Arsenal have been linked with a £50million move for Germany’s Euro 2016 star Julian Draxler. ESPN ran a story last night in their transfer round-up linking the 22-year old forward to a move to Emirates this summer.
Gunners are in dire need to bring a new attacker to the club ahead of next season with several names being linked without any concrete bid or players agreeing personal terms.
While it is still not certain where ESPN have got their information about Arsenal’s £50m bid but they constantly reiterated the fact that Wolfsburg will accept nothing less than the mentioned figure.
There are two sides of the story we need to look at here, first being whether Wolfsburg actually want to sell him? or by hiking Draxler’s transfer fee they are inviting bigger bids in order to mint money from his sale?
Either ways, signs do not look good for Arsenal after their constant refusal to pay big bucks to sign a player this summer. Jamie Vardy, Romelu Lukaku, Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are few names which were linked with the Gunners but Arsene Wenger decided to end their pursuit and focus on other targets.
Chances of Draxler joining Arsenal – 1.5/5
Until Mr. Wenger is in charge of Arsenal, I cannot expect a £50m bid from Arsenal for a 22-year old attack even if he is as good as Julian Draxler. I guess I should not ponder forward in justifying my claim as it is just not Wenger’s style to buy big.
