Liverpool have been made the favorites to sign former Real Madrid goal keeper Antonio Adan during the next summer transfer window.
Adan currently plays for Real Betis, and has a release clause of £6.5million, which has suddenly triggered huge interest among Premier League teams.
According to AS, no less than 5 EPL club are interested in signing the 28-year old stopper, but Liverpool lead the way as they are the most lucrative of the chasing pack.
Antonio Adan linked with Liverpool
As per reports from AS, Jurgen Klopp is losing confidence in Simon Mignolet, and does not see him as the ideal fit to be Liverpool’s number 1 goal keeper in coming seasons.
Mignolet has made number of errors since Klopp took over and has been leaking goals. Despite being given his new contract, Mignolet could be sold next summer leaving the way clear for Adan to join the Anfield.
Adan came in to the reckoning at Real Madrid, when he was controversially picked ahead of Iker Casillas as the first choice goalie by former manager Jose Mourinho.
Soon after those gutsy calls, Mourinho and Adan were on their way out of the club, while Casillas ended up joining FC Porto last summer.
What can Adan bring to Liverpool?
Perhaps the first and foremost thing, Liverpool fans can hope from the former Real Madrid stopper is some consistency at the back. Adan is known to have safe pair of hands and is often calm under pressure.
He is a good shot stopper and can dominate the penalty box with his 6 ft 3 in presence. An added bonus with Adan is that, he will be available for a relatively less price as compared to other keepers around Europe.
At present, Antonio Adan’s transfer to Liverpool looks a win-win situation for Jurgen Klopp, and it seems that the deal will go through in the early weeks of next season’s Summer Transfer window.
