Anthony Martial has been linked with a loan move to Sevilla to find the much-needed game time. The report has come from Spanish journal Radio Montecarlo (via Daily Star) which claim that Sevilla have made an offer and are awaiting United’s response.

Martial was also linked with a move to West Ham and Barcelona but the French forward has done well to keep quiet and focus on his game and break in to Jose Mourinho’s starting XI.

Martial has indeed struggled to transfer his form under Louis Van Gaal to Jose Mourinho and has been forced to start most of the games from the bench. Martial came on a substitute in tonight’s 3-1 win over Sunderland as well.

However, Jose Mourinho has backed is player to overcome the second season syndrome and kick on to be one of United’s better players in coming seasons.

Following on the win against Sunderland, Mourinho reminded everyone that Martial is still a young player and needs time to fully evolve into one of the match winners for Man United.

Mourinho said “I think Martial is very very young, people forget, and last season played completely differently to how we do today.”

Jose cited Ryan Giggs as an example where he said that Giggs did not have a great second season after breaking out in his first season under Sir Alex. However, Giggs kept working on his game and turned out to be one of the best players in Premier League era.

Mourinho continued:  “Ryan’s second season was not comparable with the season when he started. Then, in the 3rd season, he reached the level of Giggs.”
