A host of Premier League clubs, including Brighton and Southampton, were keen to sign the midfielder on loan.
Palace, who just joins the race at the last minute, stole the march on rival clubs to secure his signature as he looks set to become Frank de Beor’s first signing at Shelhust Park. Loftus-Cheek struggled to have playing time at Chelsea and so endured a tough season with the Premier League champions last season.
Despite Antonio Conte appearing to favour the youngster earlier on in the season, a number of niggling back injuries limited his game time at Stamford Bridge.
The possible arrival of new midfielders like Bakayoko and the possibility that Fabregas and Pedro will remain at Chelsea mean that he will have lesser game time compared to last season. So joining Crystal Palace will improve his worth and would be able to gather more first team experience.
