Arsenal’s worst fears may come true next season

Arsenal’s recent slide has seen the club once again drift away in their Premier League title race and are having to hang on for a top-4 finish.

According to recent reports, it has been suggested that Arsene Wenger is set to remain at the club despite their dismal 2015/16 season for one more season.

However, the news has not been received well by the fans and two of Arsenal’s biggest superstars – Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

According to reports from The Times, both stars are uncertain of signing new contracts and need persuading to extend their stay at the Emirates.

Their current deal expires in 2018 and although negotiations had taken place earlier in the year but recent results have seen those talks being put on hold.

The Times have reported that both players need assurances from club to strengthen their weak areas next season and fight for bigger honors. Arsenal are no longer in Premier League title race and were knocked out of the FA Cup at quarter final stage.

Meanwhile, Gunners were knocked out of the Champions League at round of 16 stage for sixth consecutive year. These results have brought fresh doubts to Sanchez and Ozil, who want to see where Arsenal finish their season before signing their new deal.

Failure to secure a top-4 finish would see Alexis and Ozil assess their futures which could potentially lie away from Emirates. According to Goal.com, Arturo Vidal has already asked Alexis Sanchez to quit Arsenal and join Bayern Munich next season.

If the duo were to leave, then Arsenal’s worst fears would come true and they will fall behind rest of the teams in next season’s title race.
