Celtic are safely through to the next qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League with a win over Alashkert.
The hoops went back to Scotland high on their 3-0 victory for the second leg and took an early lead through Moussa Dembele. Jozo Simunovic was sent away from the pitch before Dembele found the net for the second time from the penalty spot. A late goal from James Forrest sealed the win and set them up for a match against Rosenborg.
If Celtic has any hope of progressing in the Champions League, Brendan Rodgers needs a major overhaul of his squad this summer. The Hoops are yet complete any significant deal despite securing permanent deals for both Odsonne Eduoard and Scott Bain. With Rangers signing nine new players, it’s time for Celtic to open their coffers and let the cash out.
A great signing could be Cruzeiro midfielder – Giorgian de Arrascueta. Valued at £8.1m by Transfermarkt, signing the 24-year-old would be a huge statement of intent from the Scottish champions. De Arrascueta is considered one of the most promising attacking midfielders emerging from South America.
His performances secured for him a place in Uruguay’s World Cup squad, and he played two games in Russia. De Arrascueta is known for his expert dribbling and close control that makes him a defender’s nightmare. He is also deadly from set-pieces.
The Uruguayan would add some creativity to the Celtic midfielder as they look to retain their title next year.
