Tottenham will face off Manchester City this Sunday in the form of next premier league clash and it has hundred-percent chances of being a high-voltage game and it will be nothing less than a questionnaire for both the tactical masterminds, especially for Manchester City as the 90-minutes will decide whether City can finally win the league title.
Pochettino’s men on the other hand are having a king-size-mental advantage and that is their 1-0 fascinating win over Watford the past week, most probably a good result. Ahead of the big kickoff, let us take a look on some of the key battles that will decide this all-important clash this weekend.
Harry Kane vs Nicolas Otamendi
As the two teams will go head-to-head, Harry Kane, Tottenham’s target man will face off Otamendi, the Manchester City’s 27-year-old summer signing.
Kane has been proving again and again that he is not a one season wonder, and has been Tottenham’s savior this season also. He can easily create mishaps for the defending team, once he gets the ball.
Besides, it is not quite easy to knock him off the ball and the best way is to mark his covering players. So, along with Nicolas Otamendi, Demichelis will have to share the job of marking the in-form Englishman.
Otamendi is already having a great responsibility of fulfilling the Kompany-shaped hole, and whether he can do that or not, will be worth looking after.
Dele Alli vs Raheem Sterling
To be honest, Dele Alli should be this season’s emerging player, especially because of the abilities he has. Shooting, passing, position, everything is spot-on.
Going up against Alli this weekend will be another English star, who has had a hit-and-miss kind of a season so far. Since his £49million move from Liverpool, Sterling has looked good in patches but is yet to find the consistency which is expected from a big-money signing.
In absence of David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne, Sterling will be the go-to man for Man City as they look to get a strangle hold on this season’s Premier League title race.
Sergio Aguero vs Toby Alderweireld
The Argentinean super-striker is steadily returning back to his goal-scoring form after his injury spell and already bagged a goal as they lost 1-3 to Leicester City past week.
Alderweireld, has probably been League’s best defender till now, is expected to step-up and put this Aguero-named-danger in a cage, and leave his mark on the game once more.
Last time against Watford, he showed what a cool and composed, technically gifted defender he actually is, revealing his glistering future ahead. His defensive partner, Wimmer is also expected to take a share of his job as the game draws on. I have a firm belief that this battle will change the shape of the clash.
