Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray are set to make an offer for Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata, according to Turkish Football.

The Turkish publication report that the defending Super Lig champions are set to sign the Belgium international enforcer after releasing first-team defender out on loan to Al Hilal.

Turkish Football claim that Boyata is topping manager Fatih Terim’s shopping list, with the Istanbul-based outfit having funds to spend after cashing in on striker Bafetimbi Gomis and receiving a £2.5 million loan fee for Maicon.

Galatasaray qualified for the Champions League after winning the Super Lig in 2017/18.

Good move for Celtic?

It depends how much Galatasaray are willing to offer.

Reports in Spain suggest that La Liga sides are willing to pay around £10million for Boyata, so anything less than that would not convince the Hoops of a sale.

However, if a bid around that amount does come in, then the club will have a big decision to make as Boyata enters the final year of his contract.

If Brendan Rodgers feels he can secure a quality replacement in time, then the club should possibly look to sell Boyata out and rid themselves of his poisonous influence.
